9 Masks of Fire Slot Review
A collaboration between Microgaming and Gameburger Studios, brings us 9 Masks of Fire, a new slot with a modern setup, several good features and fixed payouts which could prove impressive. The game takes inspiration from both the classic genre and from African culture, and the resulting design is quite interesting.
You’re going to be able to wager on the game’s 20 lines, spin its 5 reels, and try for one of the available prizes. Whether it’s the jackpot that’s paid by the Mask scatters, or regular combinations coming from the free spins with their multipliers, or the ones created with the help of wilds, there is definitely potential for the game’s payouts. RTP is at an average 96.24%, good enough for a game of this type. Payouts on the other hand are actually better than I expect to see from Microgaming, going up to 2,000x ($120,000).
Betting and Prizes
For the full range from 9 Masks of Fire, you will receive the option of using $0.20 to $60 each spin. This allows for a maximum line bet of $3, but the starting point will be at only $0.01.
The slot’s bonus feature will pay up to 2,000x total stake, using the Mask symbols to decide how much you’re getting. With the biggest wager selected, the amount you could potentially win could reach $120,000.
Considered a game with medium volatility, the game manages to balance its top rewards and the level of risk it has fairly well. Even the RTP, of 96.24%, is in line with what many other games will offer.
9 Masks of Fire Slot Features
Diamond Wilds do appear on the reels of this game, they’re used in any regular combinations which are formed, and they participate as substitutes.
Second, we also have bonus symbols here, the so called Masks of Fire, which appear to be made out of gold. These you get to use as scatters, on three out of five reels. To get paid by them, you need at least 3 symbols of this type visible. The more you have, the higher you get on the jackpot meter from the left side of the screen. For the highest possible jackpot, you need all 9 Masks visible, and at that point you’d be looking at a 2,000x payout.
Another scatter present in the game, it’s the one marked with the Free Spins logo, placed against a shield with two crossed spears. Having three of these icons visible, means that you win between 10 and 30 free spins, via a special wheel of fortune style feature. That same wheel will also give you 2x or 3x multipliers, to help boost winnings in the free spins mode. There is also the ability that the Fire 7s gain, to pay scattered as well, not just in winning combinations.
Theme & Design
This is a slot which has an African tribal theme, and you can see it in a couple of symbols, though in most of the others it’s the classic genre that’s the winner. Among the major symbols, there are Masks of Fire, Diamonds, Spears & Shields, Fire 7s, Dollar Signs, Bar logos, Bells and Cherries.
I’ve seen enough Microgaming exclusives so far, besides their own titles, to know that 9 Masks of Fire is above average quality wise, even though the theme and symbol selection is not great.
9 Masks of Fire should do well with Microgaming’s players, as a slot with medium volatility that manages to pay a decent top jackpot, of up to 2,000x.
