African Quest Slot Review
Triple Edge Studios is the developer behind African Quest, and Microgaming is the company that’s getting exclusive rights to this slot machine, to add it to their platform, and make it available to all Microgaming online casinos which rely on it. It’s one more safari themed slot machine that is available these days, but with high volatility and big enough payouts that it’s actually interesting.
It’s a system with 1024 ways to win, spread across 5x4 reels, which is a fairly regular way to play these days. They chose a higher volatility system than usual, and so they can afford to pay up to 5,600x total stake. To get that high though, the stacked Lions will not be enough, you also need the free spins triggered via scatters, and then wild multipliers which combine to boost payouts by up to 64x. The RTP that we’ve seen mentioned in its case will go as high as 96.52% with paid respins, or 96.02% without them.
African Quest Betting and Prizes
It’s a game with higher volatility and so the wagers don’t go very high, only up to $15 per spin. The minimum bet is also quite accessible, at $0.10.
African Quest will have a top payout of 5,600x total stake, which for this game should mean up to $84,000. It’s a big enough return for the kind of wager that is available inside, but that’s possible only by making this game have high volatility, which basically means that it’s risky to play.
As for its RTP, the game usually has it at 96.02%, but if you use the right strategy with the paid respins, it will then go as high as 96.52%.
Kubwa, the stacked lion symbol, is going to be the one delivering the better payouts in this game. Since it’s the only one appearing stacked, occupying 2 or 3 positions, it has a better chance at covering the reels and getting a lot of wins formed.
The African Tree once again gets a major role, since the game uses it here as a wild symbol. You can’t form winning combinations directly with it, since only the middle three columns can get it, but it can be a lot of help, particularly during free spins, where there are also multipliers.
Other than that, the only other feature symbol is the scatter, which shows us the map of Africa. Land it 3, 4 or 5 times in a single spin, and the game will give you a range of options to choose from. You can have 5 to 15 free spins with 3x or 4x wild multipliers, 8 to 20 free spins with 2x or 3x wild multipliers, or you can choose 12 to 40 free spins, with 1x or 2x wild multipliers. The number of triggering symbols plays a role, in deciding what kind of choices you have. Also, wild multipliers do combine, so with three wilds applying 4x multipliers each, the boost to the round’s wins is at 64x.
Theme & Design
You get a beautiful African safari themed game here, but while pretty enough, it’s not going to be unique. The graphics and story aren’t the ones that will convince you to play this game, at least not on their own. The slot’s symbols range from the regular Royals, to animals from Africa (lions, rhinos, elephants, zebras and giraffes), African Trees and Africa’s Map.
African Quest is one of the few high volatility games we’ve seen Microgaming release lately, and it’s not a bad slot machine overall, I for one enjoyed the riskier side of it.
