Almighty Aztec Slot Review
Released by Microgaming on their platform, and designed by Spin Play Games, Almighty Aztec is a game which follows a fairly popular type of story, revolving around the deities of a South American civilization. The Aztecs and their god, Quetzalcoatl, are the ones that get all the attention in this case.
What they ended up releasing, is a slot machine with 5 reels & 10 paylines, though they will pay both ways, so it’s not quite as limited as it sounds initially. In any case, they cater to most players here, as the volatility is set to Medium, but at the same time I doubt they will convince the true gamblers, since top payouts only get up to 500x the stake. The slot’s RTP is at a 96.38% which I found acceptable. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the game has features which can guarantee wins, along with expanding wilds and free spins, all of these great to have around.
Almighty Aztec Betting and Prizes
Up to $500 can be wagered on each spin triggered in Almighty Aztec, but that’s an entirely optional figure to be using, the maximum allowed inside. There are much more accessible options as well, even as low as $0.10 per spin. Either way, all of the slot’s lines will remain active.
Another way to play the slot, is with the bonus feature purchased directly, though it will cost you 50x the regular stake, in exchange for just 5 free spins.
A 500x top jackpot is generally not something to be terribly proud of, as most slot machines will do better than this when it comes to the best prize they have to offer. Lower amounts are generally associated with the slots which have the volatility setting reduced, since the player doesn’t risk much there. In this case, we find a game with Medium volatility and a Return to Player of 96.38%.
Several features are introduced with Almighty Aztec, and among those there will be at least one where the god of this civilization gets involved. The appearance of Quetzalcoatl, something which happens randomly, will bring you 1 to 3 random wilds to the middle reels. As these land, they expand and take over their reels, potentially forming combinations on all the slot’s lines as a result.
The other major feature takes the form of the free spins, where you are starting things off with a 3rd reel completely wild, and with the potential to get more expanding wilds to land (only on the reels 2 and 4) and become sticky for this feature. You start off with 5 to 12 free spins, if 3 to 5 scatters show up to trigger the feature.
Theme & Design
It’s an Aztec themed title, that much is clear and shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. The symbols shown rely less on idols and decorations though, and more on nature. You have a monster like mask in the background, but also the image of the jungle. The reels have symbols which show off the Pyramid Wilds, the Calendar scatters, Soldiers, Snakes, Birds, Tablets and four gemstones. It’s a bit more cartoon-like than others, and it’s very well designed, so despite the standard theme choice, it’s potentially enjoyable.
Almighty Aztec slot offers the player an interesting mix of features, even though it’s a short list with only two options. The potential to pay is not high, and the volatility could’ve been lower for that kind of jackpot, so there is clearly room for better as far as the player’s experience goes. Ultimately though, it’s a slot with a 96.38% RTP, so it ends up paying enough back, and if you like this sort of experience, it can be a fine choice.
