Ancient Fortunes Zeus Slot Review
Featuring a type of story that’s not entirely unique, yet it is still enjoyable for many, Ancient Fortunes: Zeus is based on the story of the ruler of the Ancient Greek gods. He’s not the only one you see appearing on the reels, so there are other major gods appearing inside. As for the company that’s going to offer this slot, it’s Microgaming that is behind it.
They’ve went with a simpler design, with only 10 lines provided for 5 reels. The action takes place in the land of the gods, on Mount Olympus itself, and it delivers some truly exciting features, such as multipliers which reach 21x, Rolling Reels, free spins or wilds. Payout wise, you typically get 625x the stake, but there are big multipliers as well inside, so you could get quite a bit more.
Betting and Prizes
The bet is placed on the game’s 10 lines, and it revolves around 10 coins which can change their value. You start at the usual mark of $0.01 per line, or $0.10 total. The maximum bet is worth $70, so the line bet gets $7 in that case.
You have a top jackpot of 625x the stake which the game can pay out, by giving you 10 winning combinations with Ares symbols in them, and perhaps with some Zeus wilds to help out as well. The wins can be improved during the free spins, where the Rolling Reels can have multipliers as high as 21x applied to wins. At that point, it looks like 13,000x the stake wins are possible.
If you take into account the big multipliers which can be triggered, the game starts looking pretty good.
On the more regular side of the features, you will discover the Zeus symbol, which is your basic wild. You have it in the role of a substitute which is capable of taking the place of any other type of symbol, which should help you improve wins quite a bit over the course of a longer game session.
The slot also has Rolling Reels, a mechanic that can be found under various names, depending on the developer that’s using it. It’s the type of feature which will remove winning symbols, to leave room for others to come in, all part of the same initial paid spin. You can get several waves of wins this way, and the Rolling Reels keep triggering for as long as you keep getting new combinations to form.
The part that’s really interesting is that these consecutive wins will also lead to bigger prizes, as multipliers go up, to as much as 7x.
Reaching the free spins is possible via 3 to 5 Lightning Bolts, which are symbols that you need on the same line apparently. 10 to 20 free spins are triggered to start with, but you can get more after that. You also get a boost for the Rolling Reels multiplier, which now starts at 3x and can go as high as 21x.
Theme & Design
The Ancient Greek-inspired theme is not a new one, and Zeus has been in plenty of other games in the past. The same goes for Ares, Poseidon, Dionysus or Hermes, the other characters. You do see some additional symbols inside, such as vultures, krakens, snakes or panthers, so at least you get a full line-up of themed icons.
Ancient Fortunes: Zeus can be a decent addition to the Microgaming slots collection, particularly if you manage to take advantage of the large multipliers from the Rolling Reels feature.
