Available at Microgaming online casinos exclusively, Crystal Rift is a Rabcat creation which has awesome graphics, and that’s despite the crystal theme that was picked for it, not because of it. While it’s not generally a great theme for a slot, the crystal mining angle works very well thanks to the developer’s efforts design wise. I enjoyed the features as well, but more on that below.
In the case of Crystal Rift, its creator decided to pick a very common type of layout, one which has 5 reels occupied by 25 fixed lines. There is a Wild Grid feature to trigger as a result of Bonus Falls, but there will also be regular wilds to be found inside. All this, and the game could end up paying a maximum of $50,000 for one round, while the long-term Return to Player is expected to be 96%.
Betting and Prizes
Betting in a game with 25 fixed lines is expected to start from a minimum of $0.25 in most cases, and Crystal Rift does just that. You spend only $0.01 for one line if that wager is selected, but if you want to spend more then you will have that option. The maximum bet is $50, with the line stake set to $2 for it.
Chances are that the jackpot is not going to impress you. The developer chose to pay only 1,000 coins when five wild symbols or jackpot icons are occupying a line, so even if you had a screen filled with these icons, you would still get only 1,000x the stake at most. That’s a $50,000 jackpot that you could take home, the slot’s maximum potential.
With the RTP set at 96%, Crystal Rift does the minimum required to be a good pick for most players. I generally recommend slot machines which start at that level and go up.
Looking at the major features which are involved, one thing to expect is for a Bonus Falls feature to be active for you as you play and get wins. It involves an Avalanche-style feature, which removes the winning symbols from the reels and brings others to take their place. With some luck, this will get you additional wins and even more Bonus Falls after that. Once there are no more new wins, the feature ends and you have to pay again for a new spin.
The Wild Grid is a feature which involves symbol positions, appearing in a random pattern each spin. Once you get through three consecutive bonus falls, you unlock the Wild Grid and the symbols which are found on it. Those icons get replaced with wilds. You can get a new Wild Grid to trigger every 3 bonus falls, if they’re consecutive. The wild symbols you receive will stay in position for the next fall.
The more regular feature is the wild, which you get to use to replace other symbols, or to create its own wins (only for five wilds on a line).
Theme & Design
I think that Crystal Rift manages to look great, and it does it even though the crystal theme is generally not one that offers a lot. Here, we’re taken to a mine where crystals grows on its walls. It has a great atmosphere, almost creepy since you don’t see much inside. The symbols have crystals set in stone, in all sorts of colors, from blue, to pink, orange, green, orange or red.
Crystal Rift looks like a game which most can enjoy, and it relies on awesome graphics and features to get you there.
