Dragon Shard Slot Review
One of the many collaborations between Microgaming and smaller independent studios, Dragon Shard was created in exclusivity for the giant, by Stormcraft Studios. They’ve come up with a fantasy themed game, one where dragons and magic are possible.
The game manages to give us 40 lines, in a game area of 5x3 reels, so you can form wins of up to $4,000 much easier on each one, or up to $160,000 total for one round. This game, with Medium volatility, has for us free spins, mystery symbols and a Win Booster.
Betting and Prizes
It’s cheap to test, the smallest wager possible being $0.05 per spin. Naturally, the option is there for you to wager considerably more, and the highest bet allowed for one round is $100. This gives you the option to spend $2.50 per line. Add the Win Booster option as well, and the wager doubles, going as high as $200 then.
Whenever you get five Dragon Shard logos to cover the positions of the same line, the game will pay 20x the stake, or up to $4,000. Given the game area involved, wins of $160,000 are possible, but unfortunately this means a jackpot of only 800x the stake.
The action is of the medium volatility type, so it doesn’t pay a huge amount, but it doesn’t take forever to get a win either.
Dragon Shard Slot Features
Win Booster is an extra feature, which you can activate in exchange for an extra bet, which doubles the amount used per spin. It offers you not just the ability to create combinations from right to left as well, in addition to the original left to right, but also it means that mystery symbols can only transform into high symbols or wilds.
The game’s most profitable symbol, its own logo, is going to be the wild feature as well. While for most rounds it will help only as a substitute, at times you might find yourself with several wilds forming up on the same line, and the rewards of up to 20x the stake will be possible at that point.
The Mystery symbols are also among those present in Dragon Shard. Have them appearing on the reels, and they are going to be turned into a single symbol, which will be randomly chosen. These can even turn into wild symbols, which should be quite helpful for the profitability of that particular spin.
For the final feature, you’re looking at the free spins which you trigger via 3+ scatters. You can win 10 free spins, and depending on the number of triggering scatters, you get 1 to 3 Mystery Reels as well, on the middle columns. The odds of getting a screen filled with wild symbols are increased at this point.
Theme & Design
Dragon Shard offers a fantasy theme, and as expected we see several dragons on the reels, both of the fire and ice variety, along with the dragon shard, the queen and the king. You get only card suits for the low value positions. It’s going to have good graphics, to go with the popular fantasy style story.
Dragon Shard will give us a long enough list of features, but the volatility and the low top payouts aren’t going to be fun for a lot of players, which typically seem to prefer having high potential rewards to go after.
