Emperor of the Sea is a Microgaming title, a slot machine which seems to be inspired by explorers of the sea, but they’re going with sailors from China here, rather than the ones leaving Western Europe, like it usually happens in these games. China has its share of famous explorers, so it’s a very good choice, and it even uses their own versions of the monsters of the sea on the reels. The game is a title which includes 88 lines, on 5x4 reels. As features, it comes with free spins that have Growing Wilds and Rolling Reels, as well as stacks of wilds.
Betting and Prizes
Like with all typical Microgaming slot machines, you will get the option to at least modify the number of coins used per line, as well as their value. You should be able to get the game started with a bet of only $0.88, and it will go only up from there, depending on the kind of budget that you have.
Prize wise, the game has a lot of potential if you reach the free spins, since they have growing stacks of wild symbols, and those seem to be the ones to deliver the biggest prizes. You get a chance to land multiple jackpots at the same time this way, potentially even up to 88 of them if all 20 positions on the reels are occupied by these wilds.
Emperor of the Sea Slot Features
When we’re talking about features, we have the most fun part of Emperor of the Sea in front of us. The game will have wild symbols for example, and they will be a lot of fun to use, especially when they appear stacked on the reels. They are capable of forming combinations on all lines, either by themselves or mixed with some other regular symbol. As substitutes, they’re of no use to you if you need them to take the place of scatters. The logo of the game serves in this role, of the wild symbol.
The Chinese Gold Ingot, which has a specific shape that looks a bit like the hat of the emperor, is needed in multiple positions, in random spots, in order to get free spins to start. The feature has 8 free spins to give you, with 8 Growing Wilds. The Growing Wilds are stacked wilds which keep getting bigger each round, increasing the odds of them landing on the reels.
The other side of the feature is the Rolling Reels. These remove winning symbols from the reels and will allow new ones to come in on the empty positions. New combinations can form, and it will happen during the same spin basically, so you get multiple wins with a single round.
Theme & Design
The explorer theme has been done before, but rarely in connection with China and its history. It’s not the only explorer themed game from China around, but I know of only one other such title. In the game you’re going to discover images of dragons of the seas, of gold ingots, pots with gold coins, lucky turtles, Chinese sail ships, fish and some poker icons.
The themed part of the Emperor of the Sea slot design looks very good, and the background image is even better, but I’m not happy about the Royals that are used for some of the symbols.
This looks like an exciting game, especially once you enter free spins mode, where all the fun is going to happen. It’s not necessarily cheap since you cover so many lines, but at least the wins should come often as a result.
