Fortunium Gold: Mega Moolah Slot Review
Microgaming has finally decided to give their Mega Moolah series some love, and they’re going to release soon a new game for it. It’s the continuation of another game of theirs, and it’s called Fortunium Gold: Mega Moolah. We’re looking at a Steampunk style slot, now capable of making its players millionaires, just as it should be. It’s got its pros and cons, same as with every other progressive jackpot game, but ultimately these have a huge following, and the Microgaming ones always seem to be worth exploring.
Fortunium Gold: Mega Moolah gives the player a bigger game area than most, with 5x5 reels to spin, but with only 40 active lines available there. Wins of up to 800x the stake will be the best available in this case if you go through the regular combinations, but the promise in this sort of game is for a big progressive jackpot. The Mega Moolah progressive prizes have often paid in the 7 or 8 figures range, and they’ve made hundreds of players millionaires over the years. If we look at the major features, this game offers mystery symbols, the Win Booster option, wilds and free spins.
Fortunium Gold: Mega Moolah Betting and Prizes
You start things off from a wager of just $0.10, and you take it up from there, to as much as $15. The Win Booster is one of the options given to you, where you spend an extra 50%, in exchange for improved features.
When it comes to payouts, it’s the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot that you’re going after, since that’s the one known to pay millions to its luckiest players. It happens regularly as well, and several players have even won over 10 million EUR. Major, Minor and Mini progressive jackpots have also been made available here.
The slot has its own rewards to give away, of course, but they’re not the best. Up to 800x the stake will be paid by the game in a single spin, which is far from impressive, though not a big issue for a slot where the volatility is Medium.
One aspect that bugs me, but seems fairly normal in slots with progressive jackpots, is that the RTP is at a low level, of only 92.67%. The odds are just lower than in other modern slots, but the payout potential is much more impressive.
Moving on to the game’s big features, that’s where we find the slot’s wild symbols for one, which may be used as substitutes, in order for new combinations to be formed when everything lines up just right.
The mystery symbols are also a part of the game, and they’re going to show up stacked on the reels. They all transform into other symbols, with the green versions giving you regular symbols, while the gold ones can either transform into wilds or high value icons. There is a way to get only gold mystery symbols, but it requires the use of the Win Booster option, which costs you 50% more per spin.
Probably the most common main feature for a slot machine, the free spins are going to trigger via scatter symbols here, pretty much like in every other game. You need 3 to 5 such symbols, to trigger 10 free spins and get up to 100x the stake as a prize. Depending on how many symbols triggered the feature, 1 to 3 Mystery Reels will be provided in this mode.
For a Mega Moolah slot, it’s the Jackpot Wheel that you want to reach. This is possible whenever golden Mystery Symbols are transformed into Jackpot Wilds. The Jackpot Wheel will spin for you, and give you the Mega, Major, Minor or Mini Jackpot.
Theme & Design
With the Fortunium universe, we’re looking at steampunk style graphics and a couple of characters that were present in a previous slot as well. The addition of a modern design to a series that felt dated, is definitely a big improvement for it, and the steampunk genre in general results in some gorgeous designs when properly implemented. There is quite a bit of brown in the game’s design, but that can’t be avoided.
Stacked symbols are used for the main characters (Maximillian and Victoria), a man and a woman, while other icons present here will range from air ships, guns and treasure chests, to the standard card suits, all four of them.
Fortunium Gold: Mega Moolah is an excellent addition to the series, and one more way for you to try and get rich. The progressive jackpots which are triggered through this slot’s features, are by no means easy to get, especially the big ones, and the RTP is much lower than what a regular game will offer. However, playing for a prize that can turn you into a millionaire, is something that comes with these risks, and Fortunium Gold is definitely one of the better options in that regard.
