Fruit vs Candy is a double themed slot machine, a Microgaming design that is inspired by fruit and by candy, offering for each side a different game mode to play in, with different symbols in each case, at least the higher paying ones. You’re even getting slightly different features from the two game modes, so it’s a bit like getting two games in one. There are some less attractive elements as well to the design, and of course I’m referring to poker cards. The game we get here has 243 ways to win, 5x3 reels and can deliver payouts of $97,000 at best. Feature wise, we’re dealing with wild symbols, scatters, stacks of symbols, sweet reels and free spins.
Betting and Prizes
The betting is done from a single section, marked Bet. In typical Microgaming fashion, it lets you choose how many coins each of the available lines get, and their value. The number of lines seems to be fixed at 30 in this case, which is considered enough to cover 243 ways to win which are available on the reels.
Fruit vs Candy video slot will apparently deliver top payouts that go to as much as $97,000. You’d obviously need to use the highest wager possible, in order to get that much.
Fruit vs Candy Slot Features
You start off the game by picking the game mode that you want to use. The Fruit vs Candy battle is not just in the name of the game. You pick your side, and you play with symbols that are a mix of poker cards and icons from the camp that you chose. Each of the two sides has its own advantages to bring, the difference being in the free spins feature.
If you go with the Fruit side, then the feature you’re going to get is with Free Spins that have a Cash Stash feature. The symbols of low value, the poker cards, are removed from the reels when they form combinations. You get a cash prize for each such symbol that you get rid of. Once you have no more low paying symbols on the reels, the free spins are over.
The Candy side will have for you Free Spins as well, but with the Sweet Reel feature in them. What this means is that when you get a stack of candy symbols occupying a reel, that column will be surrounded by a glowing border and will be considered a sweet reel at that point. Regular wilds are turned into stacked wilds on those reels. Once all the reels are sugared, the feature ends.
The game offers random features as well, called Sugar Rush and Goodie Bag. Both offer you cash prizes, just in different ways.
There is a wild as well, the one using the logo of the game, and it will be used like any other substitute.
Theme & Design
Though not offering an impressive theme, I did enjoy the quality of the high paying symbols. The images of fruits and candy are gorgeous, looking like they truly come from a slot released in 2017. I can’t say the same thing about the poker cards, which might as well be borrowed from a game that is 10 years old.
Fruit vs Candy looks like a promising game from Microgaming, despite the boring theme that they’ve picked for it.
