Gnome Wood, a game that is coming to us via Microgaming, offered both on their Viper and Quickfire platforms, is dedicated to nature and to gnomes. Obviously, since those sorts of creatures only exist in fantasy books, there is a certain influence from the genre in the design of this game. As for everything else that this slot has to offer, it’s going to be a 5 reel layout, with 25 lines. The features include Wandering Wilds, bonus spins, free spins, scatters and even multipliers on occasion.
Betting and Prizes
With all lines activated, your wagers in Gnome Wood will start at 25 coins and can only go up from there. There should be a big enough range available in the bet, that most people will find a value that they’re comfortable using again and again.
Though huge prizes tend to get our attention and maybe even keep it for a while, in the end the most important thing is for a game to give you a good shot at making your money back in the long run. The higher the theoretical RTP, the better, and Microgaming’s releases tend to do pretty well in this area.
Gnome Wood Slot Features
The list of features is not terribly long, with just a couple of them present, but at least one of those has been enhanced to provide the player with something more exciting. I’m talking here about the Wandering Wild, a symbol that can be enhanced with a 2x multiplier in some cases. Whatever multiplier you might’ve gotten from the slot, either 1x or 2x, the mechanics of the feature will remain the same. It starts with the appearance of one of these wilds on the reels. The game will pay whatever prizes are available that spin, and then it will trigger the Bonus Spins, which will last until the Wandering Wild reaches the 1st reel. The Wild will move one position towards the left each Bonus Spin. The further to the right it appeared, the more Bonus Spins will be triggered.
Next, I’d suggest you also check out the scatter symbol. It’s not as exciting as the Wandering Wild, but if you get a minimum of three to appear in any random position, they will trigger 10 spins for free. Any Bonus Spins that you might get along the way, thanks to the Wandering Wild, will not impact the number of free spins that remain.
Theme & Design
Gnome Wood’s theme is a simple one, relying on a forest where a gnome lives and showing us the marvels that exist there. Thanks to a gorgeous design, the slot machine ends up being quite fun, and the cute gnome character that’s in the main role has a big contribution to that. You see him riding around, on a squirrel instead of a horse, and he can make apparitions in different moments in the game. You get his house to the side, some sort of shrine further away and green meadows and trees everywhere else.
As symbols, the game relies on a number of stone made coins that seem to show us the elements (water, fire, etc), as well as others that appear to have a connection to magic (spell books, potion bottles).
Gnome Wood is one of the more promising slot machines that Microgaming has announced in 2017, in terms of graphics and features.
