One of the many joint releases that Microgaming is offering on their platform, Hyper Viking was designed together with Gameburger Studios. Colourful, with cartoon graphics, this doesn’t look like a typical Viking-themed slot machine, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not interesting to look at.
Hyper Viking will come with 5x3 reels, where you will find 20 paylines. The rewards of the game are fine, going up to 2,000x the stake and using just scatters to get there. A 96.24% RTP has also been mentioned in its case. Major features will give the player access to wilds, scatters, and free spins with 2x-3x multipliers.
Hyper Viking Slot Betting and Prizes
You either select the total bet from the list, or you use the arrows to the left and right to change the amount that’s used. It’s a range that goes from $0.20 to $60.
Hyper Viking pays a fair amount, nothing too impressive. Up to 2,000x the stake is paid when you get the top jackpot that’s coming via special scatters. It’s easy to get, and a similar amount can be obtained via regular combinations that benefit from the free spins multipliers.
What you really want to see, is that the game has good returns over long periods of time. That’s the RTP, and the figure here is 96.24%, about average and perfectly fine for a slot machine of this type.
Features
A Wild Star is one of the special symbols that you’re going to notice on the slot’s reels. It’s not difficult figuring out what this one is about. As the wild symbol, you will get from it some help in the formation of new winning combinations. It acts as a substitute usually, but on rare occasions when it can form its own wins, it will do so, and it pays a lot more than the regulars can (up to 125x the stake for a 5-wild combo).
The Hyper Viking symbol, showing us the main character, a warrior with a red beard, will be a scatter that will trigger one of the jackpots shown on the left side. All it takes is for 3 to 9 of these Vikings to appear on the middle reels. When this happens, a prize is paid, ranging from 1x to 2,000x the stake.
The third feature trigger is going to take the form of a neon-coloured Free Spins logo. It’s also shown only on the reels 2-4, and you need all three visible, to trigger the Wheel and get a small prize (1x the stake).
Next, comes the spin on the Wheel. There are two wedges on the wheel, one telling you how many free spins you can get (10 to 30), and the other for the multiplier that will apply to all wins (2x or 3x). If the free spins are retriggered, you get the same number of free spins added to the total.
Theme & Design
As the name indicates, the theme is Viking-related, but the type of design you’re seeing is not typical for this category. There is some Viking connection, mainly through the main character, but the rest are classics. It’s a more colourful look overall, with bright colours, and the design is modern.
The Hyper Viking symbol is about the only one that’s theme-related, and it’s one of the scatters. The Free Spins logo and the Wild Star are the other two feature triggers. As we move on to the rest of the regular symbols, we find three types of Sevens (1, 2, or 3 Sevens), Dollar Signs, Bells, Bar logo, and Cherries.
Conclusion
All in all, I’d say that Hyper Viking looks like a typical release for them. The features that are included with it can be found in other Microgaming slots that were released in the last year or so, but the Viking connection might be the one to give this one the advantage.
