Ivory Citadel is a game which comes via JFTW (Just For The Win), and it is available in Microgaming’s collection of slots. Inspired by Western Asia and by India in particular, the game does have interesting graphics, which might be enough to make it a slot to look into.
The game area is standard, a 5-reel setup with 20 lines being used. The game’s got an average RTP, at 96.03%, with medium volatility, and it could end up paying over 1,900x total stake in a single spin. As for the big features, which are expected to make it interesting, those include mystery symbols, stacked wilds and free games.
Betting and Prizes
It’s a standard betting system, which requires you to spend between $0.10 and $100, and the game gives you all its active lines in exchange. You only decide on the total bet, nothing else.
You will discover that the game’s rewards are on the high side, at least for a slot machine with medium volatility, which Ivory Citadel is. The ultimate reward of the game appears to reach a value of 1,968x total stake, which is pretty good. Much better payouts are potentially available in other slots, but they tend to be riskier to play, of higher volatility.
Another relevant figure would be the RTP, which in the case of Ivory Citadel is set to 96.03%. The return that the game is designed to pay is an OK one, nothing earth-shattering. A lot of slots will do better though.
Ivory Citadel Slot Features
One of the first features that you’re likely to come across, the simple wild symbol is designed with its own logo, made out of gold and placed against a pink gemstone of sorts. You get this one on any reel, with the potential of having only wilds in combinations, where payouts could reach a maximum of 40x total stake. Otherwise, these symbols are going to be used as replacements, appearing next to various symbols and being part of combinations that way. It doesn’t replace a mystery symbol or a scatter.
Mystery symbols are also part of the offer here, and they’re typical in the way they work. You can get multiple positions on the reels as mystery symbols, and they will all be transformed into a single type of symbol. This increases the chances of combinations forming for that particular symbol.
Elephant scatters are going to be the ones responsible for the activation of the free spins, and with 3 to 5 in view, the game can trigger 8 to 12 rounds. The extra feature of the free spins will come in the form of sticky mystery symbols, which will deliver similar symbols in multiple positions. Should the entire game area be filled with mystery icons, then they transform into wilds and pay the game’s biggest rewards. The free spins then continue with locked wilds, and they keep paying you, round after round.
Theme & Design
The inspiration coming from Western Asia, it appears to be mostly based on India or countries with similar customs and culture in the area. We see several creatures from their stories, such as elephants, snakes, tigers or buffaloes, while in low positions we find Royals with a metallic look. The Wild logo is another one to pay attention to.
I found it to be an enjoyable design, it works well enough for it, though it’s not at the level of some of the better games we get to see these days.
Ivory Citadel has its unique theme to thank for making it an attractive option, as when it comes to design quality, top payouts, features or RTP, it’s about as average as they get.
