Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx was designed by Stormcraft Studios, and it’s an exclusive release, found only at Microgaming’s operators. This is the second Jungle Jim game in Microgaming’s slots collection, after the first game they’ve released in 2016. This time, rather than South America, we’re visiting Egypt and looking into the treasures that are hidden there.
For starters, the game gives you 5x4 reels with 35 active lines. Eventually, as you play the game, you can unlock an additional row of symbols, and end up with 50 active lines. The game has Rolling Reels, up to 20x multipliers, wild symbols, scatters, free spins and even Second Chance Re-Spins, so there is a lot to discover. Finally, the game’s potential rewards appear to go over 6,000x, while the RTP is calculated at 96.30%.
Betting and Prizes
To get things started, all you have to do is select the amount which will go into the round’s wager. You spend anywhere between $0.10 and $20 for a single spin, and it activates all available lines.
Moving on to prizes, those don’t have huge value, if we look only at what we’re getting in the base game. Up to 10x per combo, but with multipliers coming through the Rolling Reels feature in free spins mode, you could get up to 20x more. The news is that 6,000x top payouts or more, will be paid out by this game, but there is no confirmation on what the potential is, ultimately.
I should also note, that the game has a 96.30% RTP, which places it at the same level as most of the other slots being released these days. Expect this to be a game with High volatility.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx Slot Features
There will be wilds in this game, but that’s to be expected, they’re included in almost all new slot machines these days. You may use them as substitutes, on all reels, though this role is only available when they’re combined with regular symbols.
The most important feature of all, appears to be the one they call Rolling Reels. It’s a common enough feature these days, available under different names, but they all work the same way. Symbols involved in winning combinations will be replaced with new ones, so that a new wave of wins can form, potentially. With each new wave, the game improves the multiplier for the next wins, going up to 10x in the base game, and up to 20x during the free spins. Even better, there is a Second Chance Re-Spin, so if you miss one cascade, you don’t lose it all immediately, provided that you reached a higher level at least.
The Rolling Reels seem especially powerful during the game’s 12 free spins, which have starting multipliers of 2x and maximum ones of 20x. You need 3+ scatters, in order to get access to this part of the game.
Theme & Design
The story of Jungle Jim had us starting out in South America, a couple of years back, when he was looking for El Dorado. Now, he’s in Egypt, looking for a Lost Sphinx apparently, along with treasures hidden inside. The same adventure theme is kept, with Jungle Jim in the role of the main character. Other symbols show things like a Book of Dead, a treasure chest, pottery, gemstones and so on. It’s a decent design, but that’s not unusual, in a category as crowded as the Ancient Egypt one.
Jungle Jim and the Lost Sphinx is certainly interesting, its 20x multipliers have made sure of that, and I like the other features it offers as well, along with its high potential. The Ancient Egypt theme is way too common though, it could’ve used a better story.
