Mayan Eagle Slot Review
A collaboration between Microgaming and All41 Studios, Mayan Eagle is one of the few slot machines with very high volatility that you will find in their collection. At the same time, it offers Mayan themed graphics of pretty good quality, a decent RTP and plenty of other extras that I appreciated.
You’re always playing with 6x5 reels active, and with 15,625 Nobleways available for combinations to form on. The potential of the game is fairly high, promising to give away up to 13,000x the stake if you’re extremely lucky, and you will need that kind of support in this one, as it’s not likely to let go of its riches easily. Still, if luck comes around, you can get help from wild symbols, scatters, mystery symbols, Rolling Reels, free spins, and even an unlimited progressive win multiplier. All in all, once you figure in the 96.32% RTP, I think that you will be OK with it as a veteran player, perhaps not as much as a casual one.
Mayan Eagle Betting and Prizes
Games with very high volatility rarely end up delivering big wins while still allowing for huge wagers. The range is fairly limited in this case as well, between $0.20 and $20 being the amount that you can select each round.
As for the payouts that you can dream about, 13,000x the stake is a respectable jackpot in any slot machine, though these days it’s going to be easily outclassed by some of those being paid out by its main competitors, the ones using Megaways. As long as you keep in mind that the volatility is Very High, and you understand that a 96.32% RTP doesn’t reflect the experience that you personally will have with the game, then it’s worth checking out.
A Nobleways system, which looks a lot like a regular ways to win system, will involve the use of winning combinations that are formed with regular symbols that will land left to right, from 1st reel to the 6th. When a winning combination forms that way, the Rolling Reels trigger and help bring new waves of symbols, replacing the winning ones and perhaps getting you paid again.
There will be wilds to help out, but the reels 2 to 5 are the ones that can use them, so their support is not complete.
At any time, as you’re playing the slot, you can get rounds with Mystery Symbols, though if they do show up then there will be at least 8 of them. When they appear, they transform into regular symbols, a single one chosen to appear in a lot of positions.
Reaching the free spins, with its 12+ rounds, will require the MAYA letters appearing scattered first. The advantage of this feature will come from the win multiplier, which is at 2x for the initial wave, and then goes up by 1x after each trigger of the Rolling Reels. No limit here, so the free spins is where the potential is highest.
Theme & Design
Originality is not at its highest when we’re looking at the theme of the game, and as you might suspect, it’s the Mayan civilization that it has been based on. We’re seeing the beautiful Mayan pyramids in the background, with the jungle surrounding them, while on the stone-crafted reels we get various gold idols, bird drawings in different colors, along with the typical mix of Royals in low value positions. The Pyramid is the Wild, while the scatters are letters of the word MAYA.
Mayan Eagle comes with a decent overall design, along with a list of features that is appreciated, without feeling overly original or innovative. Ultimately, it’s one more high volatility option in Microgaming’s collection, a developer that’s not usually associated with such games these days.
