Neptune’s Riches: Ocean of Wilds Slot Review

Neptune’s Riches: Ocean of Wilds Slot Big Image

JFTW and Microgaming are collaborating once again on a new slot, and in this case we’re getting a high volatility title, with one of the bigger top jackpots that a game in their collection can offer. The progressive jackpot titles might do better, but among the regulars this is one of the more motivating payouts you can try for. A game which relies on Neptune, the god of the ocean in Roman mythology, it has the usual pretty graphics that we see in every game which takes us below the ocean surface.

5x3 reels will deliver a total of 20 lines in Neptune’s Riches: Ocean of Wilds. The game has a couple of very good features, especially the way it uses multiplier wilds and the re-spins which accompany them, but I enjoyed the free spins with their walking wilds as well. A 96.15% RTP is present, and the game can pay an impressive jackpot of up to 25,000x the stake ($250,000 cash).

Neptune’s Riches Betting and Prizes

You’re looking at a bet of up to $10 per spin, but everyone is welcome to play, as long as they can afford using at least $0.10.

I think you will enjoy the kind of potential that Ocean of Wilds promises to deliver. While not something that can be obtained during regular spins, where 300x the stake is about the best that a single round can offer, the re-spins and free spins are another matter. Multipliers, which can even be combined in combinations, will come via wilds, and the cap on the wins possible there is at 25,000x the stake ($250,000 cash for a maximum bet spin).

Though a slot where volatility is expected to be very high, that’s mostly due to the way the game redistributes the bets back to players, since the RTP is at a pretty standard 96.15%.

Slot Features

Among the major features which Neptune’s Riches: Ocean of Wilds relies on, the wild symbol is going to play a huge role. Even though you can get it only on the middle reels (2, 3 and 4), and it doesn’t pay anything by itself, it will land and trigger the game’s re-spins.

The name given to this feature is Rising Wilds, and it relies on wild symbols landing and then moving upwards by one position, for each re-spin that follows. Once a reel removes the wild, its multiplier will go up by 1x, being applied to any other wilds which land there. As you can get multiple wilds on a reel, even during re-spins, the maximum multiplier can reach 10x. With several wilds in a combo, you can multiply their values, for a huge boost to the lines where they are present.

Another important feature, the game’s free spins trigger when you land three Neptune Tridents at the same time, scattered. 5 free spins are offered, during which you get a Walking Wild that starts from reel 5, and goes towards the left until it leaves the game area. Each wild position has a random multiplier, which can also go up when additional wilds appear next to them. The highest multiplier possible for a wild is 10x.

Activating a new set of 5 free spins is possible, though it appears to be a random event, which will trigger once the first 5 rounds are used up.

Theme & Design

It’s an ocean themed slot machine, but it doesn’t have the regular focus on the creatures that live there. It doesn’t look as good either, as colorful fish tend to be much more enjoyable to look at, and Ocean of Wilds relies mostly on gold jewelry for its symbols. It’s a modern design though, so it’s not a problem playing it, it will not get annoying.

Its symbols will offer you only the low value Royals initially, but then they will make the move towards symbols with Neptune’s Trident (scatter), Golden Keys (wilds), Gold Coins, Gold Crowns, Gold Bracelets, Gold Brooch and Gold Rings.

I found Neptune’s Riches: Ocean of Wilds to be an excellent choice for a player that likes the volatility on the high side. The wilds and their re-spins will provide you with excitement during the base game, and if you can get into the free spins mode, then you get another chance at some impressive wins.

High multipliers are used to boost wins, up from the measly 300x the stake that a base game spin can offer, but you need to keep in mind that the volatility is very high here, it’s not going to offer its biggest payouts easily.
