Relic Seekers Slot Review
Microgaming has announced the release of a new slot machine, called Relic Seekers. A game which is based on the stories of Ancient China, it will feature the Yellow Emperor’s legacy, though it’s shown here thousands of years later, in our times. We have Chinese archaeologists exploring ancient temples, and it’s an angle that is new and interesting for that part of the world. Add in the pretty graphics, and the slot already sounds like a winner.
Announced by the developer as a slot with high volatility and an RTP above 96%, Relic Seekers features 5x3 reels with 25 fixed lines. Several good features have been implemented, including here the free spins, rolling reels, wilds and symbol upgrades. With a top jackpot of 4,500x total stake on the line, it’s also a slot worth playing by those willing to risk more, in exchange for a shot at a good payout.
Betting and Prizes
Betting will start at a minimum level of $0.25 for one spin, which sets the line bet to $0.01 for each of the 25 lines available inside. Naturally, you are able to increase the wager if you want to, to significantly higher levels, even up to $500 per spin ($20 per line).
On the prize side of things, the game is expected to have high volatility, which means that you are not going to get paid all that often. On the other hand, there is some serious potential for big wins inside, and a few lucky players will find that out first hand. The base game pays up to 90x total stake per line, or 2,250x total stake per spin. That amount doubles during free spins, where the potential is for a 4,500x total stake prize. RTP is also at a good level, the usual 96% or higher that’s used in all decent new releases right now.
Relic Seekers Slot Features
Among the features introduced with Relic Seekers, the rolling reels are going to be appreciated by many, and visible quite often. They trigger when winning combinations get formed, as they remove the symbols involved, and then bring others in. This can result in a wave of new winning combinations.
Consecutive wins will then trigger a feature called Symbol Turns Wild. After two consecutive winning spins, you get Nora symbols to turn into extra wilds. After four, you get Professor Morgan wilds as well. Get six wins, and you transform the third high paying symbol, Free Man.
Wilds are also available, they have the image of an Oil Lantern, and they are the standard substitutes which get used in the formation of new combinations if they’re placed well.
Reach the free spins, and you will get to play the game for free, at least for a while. With 3 to 5 scatters, the game gives you 10 free spins. You also collect Key symbols when they appear, and by retriggering the free spins you boost the multiplier as well, to 2x.
Theme & Design
Theme wise, it’s a Chinese history themed game, with local archaeologists exploring what remains from the time of the Yellow Emperor, in the Huangdi era. It’s giving us several explorers as major symbols, along with wolves, oil lamps and colorful writing on the walls. The names given to these explorers are Nora, Professor Morgan and Free Man. It’s not a bad design, definitely above average for a Microgaming release.
Relic Seekers looks like one of the better Microgaming slots to have come out from this developer. Featuring higher volatility than most of their slots, but also bigger prizes, it will appeal to a different type of player.
