As far as themes go, Ruby of the Nile has one of the more boring ones that Microgaming could’ve chosen. That’s right, this is indeed an Ancient Egypt themed slot machine. There must be over 100 slot machines by now, to have this particular theme, so there is a certain lack of imagination in offering yet another of these games. The design relies on poker cards quite heavily, so that’s another downside for it, but at least the features are interesting, giving you Double and Triple Wilds, scatter symbols, free spins and multipliers. 20 pay lines are available to wager on, while cash jackpots can reach $5,000.
Betting and Prizes
The wager system can be easily described, as having 20 lines which can be activated, with 1 to 5 coins to use on each one, while denominations can go from $0.01 to $0.50. You have up to 100 coins in a wager, and it will have a top value of $50.
The best rewards seem to be coming from symbols with scatter abilities, the best one offering 100x the wager, which can mean 10,000 coins, but only $5,000.
Ruby Of The Nile Slot Features
The really interesting thing about the features of this slot is the fact that there are about four different scatter symbols that will be used just to offer prizes. The only ones to pay through regular combinations are the poker cards, and they are the ones that you will most often see on the reels. The scatters that pay you from random positions are the ones with the Game Logo, with Cleopatra, Horus and Anubis.
A fifth scatter, one which has an Egyptian Treasure Chest showing on it, will be used to trigger up to 20 free spins and a multiplier of 2x for all wins. This feature, which can be retriggered, needs a single Treasure Chest scatter, to appear in the middle position of the 5th reel.
Moving on to the wilds, we have two symbols here, the Double Wild and the Triple Wild. As you might’ve guessed from their names, these are substitutes that will also multiply prizes that are offered thanks to them. The former will have a 2x multiplier, while the latter will multiply by 3x. They can both be used to replace scatter symbols, but only those that can give you prizes. They can’t help you trigger the free spins.
Theme & Design
Ruby of the Nile slot and its Egyptian theme are way too common to be fun, but the quality is still there. It is unfortunate that poker cards are so often seen on the reels, more so even than in other slots since they’re the only ones to form regular combos.
Expect a boring theme, but an exciting set of features, with two wilds and five types of scatters, while regular symbols have only six icons to represent them.
