Microgaming and Rabcat have collaborated once again, and the newest slot machine to benefit from this treatment is Sherlock of London. The game is exclusive to casinos which are using Microgaming’s software, and it’s obviously a new take on the adventures of Sherlock and Dr. Watson.
The developer chose a standard setup, so the 5 reels have 3 symbols each, with a total of 25 fixed lines being in use each time. Get all the right symbols, including two wilds, and the slot will pay as much as $100,000 (2,000x total stake). When you look at its features, the wilds vary from regular to expanding wilds, with extra features such as Connecting Wilds, Bonus Spins or Double Win Spins coming through them. The mix of scatters and free spins is also present on that list.
Betting and Prizes
You’re allowed to wager on the game’s lines, but without being able to change their total number. You may select the line bet, and as it goes from $0.01 to $2, the total bet is automatically modified, from $0.25 to $50.
Sherlock of London might not pay the biggest prizes around, but I’m not dissatisfied with their top rewards either. It’s mostly an average potential that we’re seeing here, in a slot machine capable of paying up to 2,000x total stake, or $100,000. For that to happen, you need a combination of jackpot symbols, in a round which offers exactly two wilds on the screen, which are next to each other (triggers a 2x multiplier). As for the RTP that the game comes with, that one’s set to 96.03%.
Sherlock of London Slot Features
A lot of the features included in Sherlock of London will revolve around the wild symbol and the number of times it appears, or its position on the screen. At its base, it’s just a regular wild most of the time, showing us an image of Sherlock Holmes. It will create its own wins, paying up to $2,000 per line, and it acts as a replacement the rest of the time.
If you get the wild to appear on the reels 1 or 2, then it triggers a Bonus Spin feature, with 1 or 2 rounds. The wild is locked, while the other positions re-spin. The aim is to get one more wild to appear, in which case the re-spins can end early.
When you have two or more wilds on the screen, there are additional features triggered. One possibility is to have exactly two wilds next to each other, which gives you a Double Win Spin (2x multiplier applied to all wins of that round).
If you get wilds which are not connected, or if there are three or more, then you get Connecting Wilds to trigger instead. Any symbol positions found between those wilds will be turned into extra wilds.
Finally, you also have access to 10 free spins, provided that 3+ scatters appear. These benefit from the same wild features, along with expanding wilds and extra wilds (Dr. Watson as main character for them).
Theme & Design
It’s the story of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, brilliantly designed by Rabcat. They did an awesome job in turning the game into something fun to play. The symbols range from various characters, like the two heroes, a villain or supporting characters, to the Royals and their excellent design. Overall, I’m impressed with the look of this one.
Sherlock of London looks like an excellent new game in Microgaming’s slots collection, and it offers a great design, combined with an interesting mix of wild features.
