As it happened plenty of other times before, Microgaming is once again launching an exclusive title to their network, and this time it’s Just For The Win providing them with the game. They’ve went with an interesting mix, so while they’re using traditional Japanese elements as well, mainly through samurai armor and the like, there are also cyberpunk-inspired icons and surrounding graphics.
As for the game that you’re going to be able to play here, JFTW and Microgaming chose to use a setup which starts you off with 4 reels which have 81 lines, but allows you to unlock the 5th reel as well, and at that point you can reach 243 ways to win. Feature wise, you’re looking at options like the wild symbol, the Reel Split Re-Spin, scatters and free spins which have locked stacked wilds. The rewards of the game will go as high as 2,000x the stake, which is a decent top payout to have.
Betting and Prizes
You can set up the bets for Shogun of Time, in a way which activates all the ways to win, so reducing them is not even an option. You get to pick a wager which is worth anywhere from $0.10 to $100, so the game appears to be using 10 active lines/coins for the wager.
A game with medium volatility, Shogun of Time is going to pay as much as 12x the stake for a single win, though there are a lot of ways to win for you to get paid through. Wins which are higher than 2,000x the stake should be possible inside, which means $200,000 or more in a single spin.
There are both some regular and some unique/rare features to be found in Shogun of Time, a game which stands out in more ways than just through its cyberpunk Japanese theme.
You have a wild symbol for starters, and it’s going to be the one showing you the Cyberpunk Girl. Besides being usable as a replacement, this symbol is also going to pay the top jackpot, should it appear up to five times on the game’s reels. The ways to win system helps make the wild even more useful, compared with slots which have regular lines.
The game starts you off with 4 active reels, which have 81 ways to win on them. You can get the 5th reel if you form a combo of 4 symbols. In that case, the four initial reels get locked, and the 5th reel is added in the middle, and then it gives you one re-spin. Hopefully, you can get a bigger win as a result.
Triggering 8 or 16 free spins is possible, provided that you get 3-4 scatters to appear. The feature uses 5 reels and 243 ways to win, with the 3rd reel being a locked stacked wild.
Theme & Design
The game will probably satisfy the cravings of both fans of the Japanese genre, and those that love cyberpunk. The design is well made, and it features images which show either traditional Samurai armor pieces, or things like the Cyberpunk girl, logos and cherry blossoms. The downside is that you’re also going to see some Royals in that mix, but at least they have a more modern feel to them.
Shogun of Time will deliver some decent graphics, a cool theme and at least one feature which looks interesting. It’s looking like a decent slot to try out, especially if the developer didn’t limit the maximum payout which is possible.
