The Vault Slot Review
Microgaming and Snowborn Games have joined forces, and they’re releasing the first game of the latter, a new slot machine going by the name of The Vault. It’s going to tell us the story of a jewelry thief, called Jewel apparently, trying to steal the biggest diamond in the world, from a Paris-based art gallery. It’s not an original story, but the implementation and the features involved should make it quite a bit more interesting.
First, we know that the slot’s setup will rely on 5 reels, along with 20 active win lines. The game has very high top payouts to offer, as much as 5,000x the stake being paid under the right conditions, with a maximum value of $100,000. To get there, you can take advantage of free spins and 3x multipliers, of stacked wilds, re-spins and scatter symbols.
The Vault Betting and Prizes
When it comes to the wagers that the game allows, those will start from $0.20, and will reach $20, when at the highest level. You then have a line bet between $0.01 and $1.
I think you will appreciate that the game has that big top jackpot, of 5,000x the stake. For a spin where the maximum bet was used, this could mean a jackpot of up to $100,000. Microgaming doesn’t have a lot of slot machines with high volatility in their collection, so while this game is not designed with casual players in mind, it should at least allow veterans to try it.
One feature that isn’t necessarily flashy, but which can prove very useful in the long run, the stacked wild is going to appear and try to participate in as many winning combinations as it can. You get it to cover 1 to 3 positions on a reel, so it can be part of all 20 active lines even. It’s a substitute for regular symbols only. If a line forms a combo out of wilds alone, the rewards involved range from 2.5x to 100x the stake.
The other major symbol found inside is going to use the scatter, which you need appearing five times, to trigger the free spins. Even two scatters can be of some use though, as they trigger respins for the other reels, in an attempt to get the extra symbol required for the feature. The respins continue for as long as new scatters land on the reels, or until you trigger the Vault Bonus.
If you do manage to get the five scatters required, either directly or as a result of respins, you will receive 10 free games, along with a 3x multiplier. For this feature, which you can retrigger, all wins will be tripled in value. Get 1+ symbols to receive an additional free spin, or x1 symbols to increase the multiplier by that much. On top of that, you will find that the 3rd reel is wild for the duration of this feature.
Theme & Design
The Vault is not a great looking game, though it does alright and it shouldn’t annoy anyone. The robbery genre is filled with great looking slots already, and so this one doesn’t do a good enough job to be a top choice. Still, the background will take you inside the art gallery at night, and you see the thief next to the reels. As its symbols, you have the W wild, a bonus scatter, pink and regular diamonds, emeralds and gold bars, along with five Royals.
The Vault doesn’t quite do enough to make it interesting design wise, but I like what they’ve done with their features, and the 5,000x top payouts are excellent as well.
