Treasure Skyland is the latest joint release, from Just For The Win and Microgaming, the former taking the role of the developer, while the latter will get exclusive rights to this slot. It’s gorgeous, with cartoon-style graphics which look like stills from an animation movie, and there are some decent features to be had from it as well. On the other hand, expect for the game to not be as appealing to players, mostly because of its lower potential rewards.
First though, let’s check out the game’s offer. Relying on 5x3 reels, it gets 20 paylines that combinations can form on. It sprinkles plenty of wilds, multipliers, symbol upgrades, bonus games, but ultimately it doesn’t go past 1,000x the stake payout wise, delivering up to $100,000 cash. With the volatility high, it’s not doing that well here, but it still manages to get its RTP to 96.18%.
Treasure Skyland Betting and Prizes
You’re going to be able to select the bet for the upcoming spin. It will cover all lines, using an amount that’s anywhere between $0.10 and $100. All the lines will be active.
As for the rewards coming your way, there are a couple of ways that you can get closer to the game’s potential, of 1,000x the stake. One of them is through the bonus game, where that’s the highest possible payout. Another is through winning combinations, which will pay up to 40x the stake per line, adding then some multipliers of up to 4x.
They didn’t add the biggest rewards around, but they made the slot be quite volatile, and the combination doesn’t work all that well. Even with the high variance, the game still has the RTP at a decent level, of 96.18%.
One of the features that you’re going to see regularly, the Map Wild will serve as a substitute, and it should be quite useful. It’s available to participate in winning combinations that have regular symbols in them.
A more special feature, will include a Helm frame, going around the middle reels and moving on top of a symbol. If there is a win that round, and the combination includes the symbol from the frame, then you get a reel to spin and deliver to you a random modifier. You can get a multiplier of up to 4x applied to the round’s wins, an upgrade for the symbols from the triggering winning combo, a better combination with the help of 1-2 extra wilds, or the transformation into wilds.
That same Feature Reel, which triggers with help from the frame and a combo, can also give the player a Pick Bonus Game. You get 5 picks initially, but more can be obtained. Each one gets you a prize, along with an advance on a map. Get through the 15 steps, and you can win up to 1,000x the stake.
Theme & Design
It’s one of the best-looking slot machines that I’ve seen in Microgaming’s portfolio in recent years. With a bit of a fantasy and pirate theme, using monkeys as main characters, and with cartoon-like graphics which are at the quality of a film from the likes of Pixar or Disney, I absolutely loved the work that Just For The Win did on this game. As for the symbols they chose, the game includes the Map as the wild, along with regulars that have a logo, three monkey pirates and Royals which use coins as support.
Treasure Skyland looks impressive, and the features tend to be fun as well. It’s just the low potential that doesn’t work very well, when coupled with the slot’s high volatility.
