Oliver, the Musical, To Be Backed By Microgaming

A musical that will be presented on stage on August 8th, 2016, Oliver is a Taylorian production and we just heard that it will be supported by Microgaming. It will be presented on the stage of Gaiety.

The inspiration for Oliver comes from the novel written by Charles Dickens, of the same name. The lyrics and the music were created by Lionel Bart. The musical, which is extremely well known and appreciated, will feature popular songs like “As Long As He Needs Me” or “Consider Yourself”, and there will be plenty of high quality stage objects and costumes to form the right look for the era. There are 70 performers that are part of this play, about two dozen of them being young actors from Manx. The director of Oliver is John Cumberlidge, while the producer for it is Matt James.

The production of the stage has been covered by PlayItForward, an initiative from Microgaming that has been founded in 2014, with the purpose of gathering under the same umbrella all of their efforts when it comes to CSR.

The work that PlayItForward does on Isle of Man covers the arts as you can see, but it’s not just that. There are also charities that get help from them, along with healthcare, education and even sports. This new project has been added to the PlayItForward initiative, and now locals will get a chance to see a great production of Oliver.

Some of the shows that have put on in the past, by Taylorian Productions, have included Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Sunset Boulevard. It is the 10th year since they have been around. Their representative, Matt James, declared that this musical is a true masterpiece, and there have been huge audiences from all over the world that have enjoyed it already. If companies like Microgaming didn’t help out, such large productions wouldn’t be possible on the Isle of Man, which is why they are very grateful for the support.
