Microgaming Obtained the License to Create a Highlander Slot Machine

The original Highlander movie will come to Microgaming in the form of a slot machine in the near future, the company announcing that they’ve just acquired the licensing rights to do this.

At the basis of this next slot machine, Microgaming looks at the Highlander film that was released over three decades ago, in 1986. Its director was Russel Mulcahy, while at the basis of the movie was a story that Gregory Widen wrote. The action in the film occurs in historical Scotland and in a 1980s New York. The main character is Connor MacLeod, which was played by an actor called Christopher Lambert. He’s a Scottish swordsman, which just happens to be immortal. The movie has gotten a lot of attention over the years, and it has its own cult following these days. It was actually popular enough that a franchise was created based on it.

Microgaming’s Games Publisher, David Reynolds, declared that this movie was a great hit back in the 1980s, and that it can be a great choice for a theme in a slot machine. They’re already working on creating this new slot machine which relies on graphics from the movie. Players will get access to both New York and to the Scottish Highlands, through the slot’s features. The art style is inspired by a classic movie poster style and it will feature guitar music for the soundtrack.

The release date for this new slot machine with 243 ways to win is December 6th, 2017.

Apparently, there will be plenty of characters from the original Highlander that also appear on the reels of this new slot machine. You will see Connor MacLeod, Brenda Wyatt and The Kurgan among them. Fans of the original film should find this new slot machine quite enjoyable.
