The Phantom Of The Opera, the 2004 film that was made by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will apparently get its own slot machine. Microgaming has just signed the deal with The Really Useful Group, the holders of the license.
The 2004 film was released as an adaptation of another one, a musical from 1986. The film had among its star actors names like Minnie Driver, Emmy Rossum or Gerard Butler. As for the director, it was Joel Schumacher. The total income worldwide was at $154 million.
Microgaming has decided to create a new slot machine based on this film, and it will be released later in 2017. In the design of the game we will see the characters from the movie, some of the original footage and musical numbers.
David Reynolds, a representative from Microgaming, mentioned how popular the film was when it appeared, more than a decade ago. Having a musical as a source of inspiration is exciting for them, since it’s a new type of branded slot machine that they’re working on here. They’re letting us know that the slot will be released during the third quarter of 2016, and that it will celebrate this opera, using free spins that are full of features, as well as other bonuses.
The musical, The Phantom of the Opera, has been created based on a novel written by a French author, Gaston Leroux. The Phantom hides himself in the building of Paris Opera House, because of the way he looks. It’s also a story of love though, his when it comes to Christine Daae, his protégée.
More than 140 million people have enjoyed this stage musical, in 166 countries and 35 countries worldwide. A total of $6 billion have been grossed. The first time it opened was at London, back in 1986. It’s been around for 31 years now, and in the meantime it won 70 theatre awards and it’s still going strong.
Microgaming has celebrated at ICE, on February 8th, this particular event. The audience has been immersed into the musical, and the bar was appropriately decorated for the occasion.
