This campaign is used by Microgaming to donate in four different regions around the world, including here Europe/UK, Isle of Man, Africa and Rest of the World. The contacts and customers of the company are the ones voting on which charity wins that money, in each region.
Gift of Giving’s sixth annual event had donations of £180,000 given in total, as it ran during the month of December, in 2018.
The campaign had four charities chosen for the four regions, and the winners in 2018 were Teenage Cancer Trust for Europe and UK, Heroes on the Water for Isle of Man, Africa’s Save the Rhino and in Rest of the World the money went to Medecins Sans Frontieres.
If we look at the Isle of Man winner, Heroes on the Water, we have a charity which was released in 2014. It gives military veterans a chance to relax by kayaking and fishing at the same time, with the time spent on the water helping them integrate and rehabilitate.
Teenage Cancer Trust was the charity chosen for UK and Europe. On average, each day there are 7 young people diagnosed with cancer, in UK alone. The charity will work with these patients and their families, helping them as they’re dealing with this disease.
Save the Rhino is once again the winner for Africa, this being the fourth year that they’ve been voted. It’s been around for 25 years and their aim is to help endangered rhino species from the continent.
As for Medecins Sans Frontieres, the Rest of the World charity winner, they’ve been around since 1971 and they’re very well known at this point. They give emergency aid to the people which are affected by epidemics, wars or natural disasters. This is the fourth time that they get Microgaming’s support.
