Emerald Gold Slot Review
A joint release, with Just For The Win as developer and Microgaming as the publisher, Emerald Gold is a brand new slot machine. It doesn’t quite look like one, if you go by the very common Irish/Classic mix that would describe its theme, but once you get into its payout potential and the way you can get its jackpots, I think you will be suitably impressed.
5x4 reels will provide you with 40 win lines, and while that doesn’t give you huge top wins, there are other features inside which will do a lot better. Up to 25,000x the stake can be offered in a single spin, or through the free spins. This is in a game with very high volatility, naturally. To be appreciated, is the presence of a 96.12% RTP, which is good enough for a slot machine. As for the various other features that are present, you get wilds, a couple of scatters, and the somewhat unusual free spins.
Emerald Gold Betting and Prizes
$10 is the maximum bet in Emerald Gold, an amount that quite a few people can afford, but which can still be an issue in a game with very high volatility. Those that want to stick around for a longer period of time, can rely on bets as low as $0.20 per spin.
Regular symbols don’t offer big prizes, and the best you can do through them is 1,200x the stake (30x per line). However, with the right number of scatters populating the middle three reels, you might just get closer to the 25,000x jackpot ($250,000).
With the RTP at 96.12%, but with very high volatility as well, this type of online slot feels like a better choice for an experienced player.
Most of the features used in this game are going to feel like standard options, easy to get elsewhere, but there are exceptions because of the way some of them work.
It’s not the case with the W wild though, as that one is used as the usual replacement, it doesn’t do anything different.
However, the first of the slot’s scatters can be much more interesting. Though limited to the three reels from the middle, it can appear up to 12 times there, and depending on the exact number, it gets you paid immediately. The prizes range from 1x to 25,000x the stake, for 4 to 12 symbols. The image used for it, is that of a Clover with four leaves.
Next, we have the second scatter, which has the top hat of the leprechaun, made out of gold. Land it at the same time on the middle three reels, and it triggers 3 free spins for you. It doesn’t sound like much, but the spins reset whenever you get a new Four-Leaf Clover in view.
At the same time, the Clover scatters will be collected, and you will notice the jackpot meter going up each time. You can actually collect 12 Clovers over the period of a free spins feature, and get a huge reward. Not quite as easy as that, it’s still very unlikely, but the odds do seem a lot better than in the base game.
Theme & Design
I’m not a big fan of common themes, I’ve seen them too often already, but as far as Irish/Classic themed slots go, this one has a decent design. It features green hills in the background, while the reels have green backgrounds and gold borders.
Symbols give you a mix of feature symbols (Top Hat, Four-Leaf Clover, W logo) and regulars (Triple Lucky 7, three Bars, two Bars, or one Bar, horseshoes, emerald heart rings, beer and three-leaf clovers).
Emerald Gold gives you excellent reasons to want to check it out, I think you will agree on that once you see its 25,000x jackpot. Not easy at all to get there, quite unlikely actually, given the very high volatility, but some people like a challenge.
