Mugshot Madness is a mobster themed Microgaming slot, but with its own little twist to make it more interesting. All the gangsters shown in those pictures are animals, not humans, so you have a monkey in one, an alligator in another, along with an octopus, rhinos and cats, to mention a few of the used images. The interesting theme is not alone in capturing the player’s attention, being accompanied by free spins, by scatters and even a wild. The layout is the more typical part of the game, 20 lines being selected for its 5 reels. A jackpot of $10,000 seems to be the ultimate reward that you can go after.
Betting and Prizes
With 20 paylines required to be active at all times, you will have to use at least 20 coins in all the wagers you have. The minimum wager of $0.20 results from the use of $0.01 coins, but that value can be taken up to $0.50. You can also have a maximum of 10 coins per line, which could allow for line bets of up to $5. Given the numbers that we work with, the maximum bet could reach $100.
There are two ways that you can land a $10,000 jackpot in Mugshot Madness. First, it’s with the wild’s help, the second symbol capable of paying that much being the scatter.
Mugshot Madness Slot Features
A dog is the hero in this case, the only character on those reels that is not a bad guy. Detective Jack Murphy, because that’s the name our hero gets, is shown in the symbol that has the ability to act as a substitute for other symbols. It also adds a 2x multiplier to wins obtained with its help, so you get twice the money if it helps out. With three or more wild symbols on the same line, and arranged from left to right, you get a combo of their own to form, your way of getting the top jackpot.
The Sheriff Star is the scatter, the symbol whose position on the reels is not important, only that you have enough of them in place. As long as a spin brings you 3, 4 or 5 Sheriff Stars on the reels, you will get paid 5x, 20x or 100x the wager.
That same Sheriff Star, present in 3 to 5 locations, will deliver a feature called Line-up, which has 15, 20 or 25 free spins for you. Whenever you get a winning combo with a criminal symbol in it, those symbols will be captured. You can capture each symbol during free spins, but only once. Each captured icon gives you a prize, which varies between 1x and 10x the bet.
Theme & Design
The idea is an interesting one, though it’s been done a couple of times in other slots. The delivery leaves something to be desired unfortunately, and I for one am not a fan of the design. I do give it extra points for having only themed icons on the reels though.
Mugshot Madness slot has some very cool features, and the theme choice is good also, but it could use more work in its design and some bigger payouts.
