Tomb Raider II is a Microgaming slot machine that is based on the famous Lara Croft, the attractive archaeologist that has gotten quite a bit of attention from gamers all over the world over the course of the last couple of decades, since the first games with her came out. The story here is based on Secret of the Sword apparently. The symbols are part inspired by archaeology, part poker cards which seem to have no connection at all with the theme. Wild symbols, free spins with rolling reels, a Super Mode and a bonus game are among the features of Tomb Raider II. The game has 30 lines and offers payouts of $75,000.
Betting and Prizes
Tomb Raider II can have anywhere between 1 and 30 paylines which can be active. You decide how many are used, and for each one you also pick the number of coins for it, between 1 and 10 being possible. Since the coin size will go up to $1, you can wager $10 per line, or up to $300 total.
The big prize returns to you the line bet with a 7,500x multiple. That could mean 75,000 coins, and a top value of $75,000.
Tomb Raider II Slot Features
Lara Croft is used in about five different symbols, but only one of them shows you a close-up of her face. That’s the one to act as a wild feature, a substitute for any regular symbol, but not for a scatter or bonus. Should 2 to 5 wild symbols appear together, from left to right on a payline, they will award prizes of 5x to 7,500x.
One feature worth knowing about is the Super Mode, triggered at random while you play the game. It will bring you 5 free spins, during which you get multiple wild positions that are sticky.
Free spins aren’t missing either from this game, and they are brought on by the presence of at least three Artifact symbols, scatters which can appear in any position. The free spins benefit from Rolling Reels, meaning that winning symbols will dissolve, so that the ones on top can come down and that new combinations can be formed. Multipliers of up to 5x are applied during the Rolling Reels feature.
The final feature is the one they call Global Adventure, which you get if you have the Passport icon on all five reels, but not necessarily during the same spin. You activate the reels over the course of multiple spins, as you get Passport symbols on them. When all five are active, you get the bonus game, where you can win up to 450x the average total bet, calculated for the period of time where you got the active reels.
In the bonus game, you pick a location, and then you start searching for fragments of the sword. The feature ends if you find two booby traps.
Theme & Design
Though a game with Lara Croft should be easy on the eyes, this slot doesn’t do much with all that potential. It’s a pretty average looking slot machine unfortunately. Its symbols include images of Lara in about five different variants, plus pictures with the usual poker cards.
Tomb Raider II is an online slot that I’d only recommend if you’re a big fan of the video game franchise or the movies. It’s not good enough to be fun for everyone that tries it though.
